A Hard Truth

James 1:5-8

5 If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you. 6 But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind; 7 , 8 for the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”  NRSV

Clearly, the world as a whole, has been far to timid when it comes to asking God for wisdom. It might be closer to the truth to say the world has placed its faith in everything but God. Long ago, the world traded its faith in the Creator God for a faith in the golden calves made by its own hands.

Now, we wonder why God allows the mass murder of our children in their classrooms; we wonder why God allows our workplaces and parade routes to become war zones? According to James, God is telling us to pray to the one in whom we place our faith, let Baal save you! “For the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”

A hard truth, yes, but still truth.

Be a blessing to someone today!
