No Live Stream of Worship on 5.16.21

Dear Friends of HCC!

With sincere apologies, there will be no live stream or recording of worship tomorrow. For those who are able, we encourage you to attend church and welcome our guest preacher, the Rev. Carol Devine, Minister of Green Chalice and Director of Admissions at Lexington Theological Seminary. Carol is also the Editor of the CCK News, the Christian Church In Kentucky’s email newsletter.

Green Chalice was a ministry that began when former Regional Minister, Greg Alexander, called together Disciples from across the region of Kentucky, who shared a concern for creation care. Twenty-five people came together for pizza and soda to discuss ways their common concern for the health and sustainability of our planet could be incorporated into the ministries of the Region. As that ministry gained traction, Carol Devine emerged as the nature leader for that group. Green Chalice was born as a ministry of the Region of Kentucky.

Through Carol’s excellent leadership, Green Chalice became known throughout the denomination. After a few years, Disciples Home Missions sought to be a partner in this ministry with the Kentucky Region. This gave Green Chalice an official, binational presence among Disciples in the US and Canada. In time, Carol created a place for Green Chalice as a recognized ministry ecumenically. She now serves on several ecumenical ministry boards focused on creation care/climate change and is a well respected leader throughout these ministries.

Please give my dear friend and colleague our usual warm HCC welcome!

God bless!
Greg
