“The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the LORD,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more.”
These promises are such magnanimous gestures given freely by God to a people who had abandoned and all but forgotten God. This is God’s love for God’s people on full display.
God’s great love was on full display again in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. God made sure that everyone who desired it could and would know God, God’s love, and God’s forgiveness. Jesus translated the law of Moses into the law of Love and wrote it on our hearts. Then, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and David, became our God, too, and we became counted among the people God.
We can’t earn it, buy it, or steal it. It’s a gift. We just have to accept it and commit to live our lives by the law of Love Jesus has written on our hearts. Friends, that is God’s amazing grace.
Be a blessing to someone today!
