Together in Unity

Today, we ask you to hold the family and friends of Charles (Charlie) Ballard in your prayers. On Wednesday, Charlie and his wife, Janie, were in a horrible automobile accident. Charlie did not survive. Janie is home recovering.  May our love and prayers bring comfort to the Ballard family.

In your mercy, Lord, hear our prayers!

Psalm 133

“How very good and pleasant it is
when kindred live together in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head,
running down upon the beard,
on the beard of Aaron,
running down over the collar of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion.
For there the Lord ordained his blessing,
life forevermore.”

Love is the prescription for unity, the kind of unity that gains God’s blessing of life forevermore. The kind of unity that took Jesus to the cross uniting many Jews and Gentiles into one new faith. The kind of unity Paul wrote about when he said there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, slave nor free, because we are all one in Christ Jesus and all members of the one body of Christ. The kind of unity that brings people of all color and ethnicity into one beloved faith community we call the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

“How very good and pleasant it is
when kindred live together in unity!” Amen!

Be a blessing to someone today!
