Imperishable Seed

My apologies for the delay in posting today’s Thought for the Day!

I Peter 1:23-2:3

“Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart. You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.
‘All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord endures forever.’
That word is the good news that was announced to you.

Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice, and all guile, insincerity, envy, and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.”

Light and darkness cannot co-exist. When the light is turned on, the darkness is dispelled.

Light was a favorite metaphor of the New Testament writers when talking about Jesus. Like light, when the unconditional love of God is present, then things like malice, guile, insincerity, envy, and slander disappear. Not destroyed. These agents of darkness lurk in the shadows waiting for the light to go out.

Walking in the light of Christ, filled with the light of his love, letting that light shine through us into the lives of those around us, is the only true way to liberate our neighbors and our world from the powers of darkness. Let us strive to walk in the light!

Be a blessing to someone today!
