A Prayer for All

Psalm 143

“Hear my (our) prayer, O Lord;
give ear to my (our) supplications in your faithfulness;
answer me (us) in your righteousness.
Do not enter into judgment with your servants,
for no one living is righteous before you.
For the enemy has pursued me (us),
crushing my life (our lives) to the ground,
making me (us) sit in darkness like those long dead.
Therefore my (our) spirits faint within me (us);
my (our) hearts within me is (us are) appalled.
I (We) remember the days of old,
I (We) think about all your deeds,
I (We) meditate on the works of your hands.
I (We) stretch out my (our) hands to you;
my (our) souls thirst for you like a parched land.
Selah
Answer me (us) quickly, O Lord;
my (our) spirits fail.
Do not hide your face from me (us),
or I (we) shall be like those who go down to the Pit.
Let me (us) hear of your steadfast love in the morning,
for in you I  put my trust (we put our trust).
Teach me (us) the way I (we) should go,
for to you I lift up my soul (we lift up our souls).
Save me (us), O Lord, from my enemies (our enemy) ;
I (We) have fled to you for refuge.
Teach me (us) to do your will,
for you are my (our) God.
Let your good spirit lead me (us)
on a level path.
For your name’s sake, O Lord, preserve my life (our lives).
In your righteousness bring me (us) out of trouble.
In your steadfast love cut off my enemies (our enemy),
and destroy all my (our) adversaries,
for I am (we are) your servants.”    NRSV
