“My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.
If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you. But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind; , for the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”
Dendrologists know that a trees leaves will fall to the ground if there is no wind during the leaves development. The force of the wind develops the leaves capacity to cling to the tree. James reminds us that the trials of life strengthen our faith in God and because they draw us closer to God, we should receive them with joy. Now that takes real faith.
James also reminds us that doubt is the Achilles heal of faith. Rock-solid faith in God is the conduit through which God’s blessings flow into our lives. A tested faith gives us the confidence to be the conduit of blessing for the lives of those around us. How are to be a blessing? My experience says that is the wisdom we should seek from God, so just ask! Faith informing life, faith working in our lives to bring light and hope and joy to the lives around us is James message to the followers of Christ.
Be a blessing to someone today!
