Joy Week – Tuesday

“When you are joyful, when you say yes to life and have fun and project positivity all around you, you become a sun in the center of every constellation, and people want to be near you.”
― Shannon L. Alder (inspirational author)

You have no doubt heard me say (more than once!) that each of us occupies the center of our individual realms of influence. What we say, how we behave, how we prioritize the things in our lives, the opinions we hold, the values we hold dear not only impact our lives, they impact the lives of the constellation of people that surround our lives – family, neighbors, co-workers, and even the stranger who wanders across our path. We choose what kind of influence we will exhibit. We can choose to be rays of sunshine that bring forth hope and joy or dark holes that suck the life and energy out of everyone around us.

This is a choice we must make many times each and every day. That is why I begin my day with prayer and study. Beginning the day basking in the light of Christ makes it quite difficult to live a black hole existence.

Developing the habit of doing kind deeds, greeting everyone with a genuine smile, speaking encouraging words and so on is a great way to unleash the rays of Christ’s light in you into your constellation of relationships.
