Joy Week

This coming Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent, we will light the candle of joy. To help us prepare I invite you to enjoy some quotes on joy this week for your daily reflections.

“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.”
― Tagore (a poet/musician from India)

I love the message here. It captures one of the great truths. All of us have performed unsolicited acts of kindness. All of us know the deep-seated warmth that works its way out of us in the form of a smile when performing such deeds. That is joy.

Joy can’t be purchased. It can’t be found when sought. In God’s infinite wisdom joy was created as a by-product of kindness freely rendered.

The birth of Jesus is pure joy to the world because it comes as God’s supreme act of kindness freely rendered to us all.
