Thanksgiving Week at HCC!

What a great weekend we had this past weekend!

Friday evening, the members of HCC gathered to serve chili and hot dogs to those who came to celebrate the lighting of the community Christmas tree on the Town Square (or is it a Town Circle?). The fund raiser was a great success. Many thanks to all those who organized, prepared and worked the event!

Yesterday, our Sunday morning worship included the Hanging of the Greens service. Everyone present participated in decorating the church sanctuary, bringing it to a life for the Advent of our Lord! What a joyous morning we had!

This week, there will be no Book study on Thursday noon as we take the time to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.

This coming Sunday will be the first Sunday of Advent. The texts for the morning worship will be Isaiah 2:1-5 and Matthew 24:36-44 (yes, there will be two readings). We will also light the first candle on the Advent wreath, the Candle of Hope.

We have much to be thankful. Please take the time this Thanksgiving to truly give God thanks for the many blessings in your life. Please take a moment to thank God for those who serve in our armed forces and our first responders, especially those who will be separated from their families this Thanksgiving. Ask God’s blessings upon all those whose Thanksgiving Day will be cut short because they are required to work their retail jobs to accommodate so many peoples’ wants. And, ask God to make you a blessing to someone this day….and every day.

The Alexander family wishes a Blessed Thanksgiving to you all!
