Can you see how fear denies us the intimacy with God that God desires, that the inner recesses of our hearts long for? Fear’s selective hearing strives to make us deaf to the parts of life we need to listen to the most, the parts where we hear the voice of God; in the cries of the stranger, the marginalized, and the powerless; in the cries of our own brokenness and uncertainties.
